The Colfax Main Street Board is pleased to announce that Willow Patterson has been named our 2020 Leadership Award recipient! Each year every Main Street Iowa Community nominates an individual who goes above and beyond in helping to support their community to be honored by Main Street Iowa and Iowa Economic Development Authority.
Willow has been a resident of Colfax for over 50 years and has been involved with numerous volunteer activities through The First Baptist Church and Colfax’s local P.E.O. chapter. Willow has been involved with Colfax Main Street since its formation in 2009, but became more involved with the organization in 2018 when her son, Stuart Patterson, was hired as the executive director of the program. Willow frequently helps out with decorating Downtown Colfax for changing seasons, lends a helping hand at several events, and gives generously to beautification projects. She even wore her own elf costume to help out with 2020’s modified Colfax Country Christmas’ Drive-Thru Santa event! Willow also came up with the idea of transforming this year’s Downtown Christmas Tree into a Valentine’s Day tree, to help keep the Downtown beautiful during the winter months. Willow was nominated by the Colfax Main Street Board because she is often the first to jump in to help with whatever project our program is working.
