The physical elements of our historic commercial district in Colfax embody our community's past, serve as venue for its present and contain the potential for it's future vibrancy.  The Downtown Design Guide was made by Main Street Iowa and Main Street America as a tool to educate Main Street America coordinating programs, historic business district property owners, city staff,  historic preservation advocates, and local volunteers in the best practices to preserve and maintain the physical assets of our historic downtowns for future economic vibrancy.
