Don’t miss the 2012 Colfax Country Christmas on Saturday, December 1st from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in downtown Colfax! For over twenty years, Colfax Country Christmas has been a great way to share holiday cheer and well wishes with your local businesses, family and friends!
Arrival of Santa: Santa and his elves will arrive at 4:00 PM to kick off the 2012 Colfax Country Christmas on West Howard Street!
Snow Ball Drop Sponsored by Professional Hair Designers: The Snow Ball Drop will take place on West Howard Street at 4:15 PM. Over 1,000 ping pong balls will be dropped into the air and everyone will have a chance to win prizes as you collect the ping pong balls.
Reindeer Crossing: The Reindeer Crossing consists of a 9-hole miniature golf game which guides participants through our local businesses. After completing all 9 holes, turn in your game card for an instant prize (while supplies last) and a chance to win $25 in Colfax Bucks. Golf holes can be found in the following locations: American Working Dog Museum; Colburn Funeral Home; First State Bank of Colfax; Colfax Main Street Office; Gem of Colfax; Hair Gallery; Kern Law Office; Professional Hair Designers and Weirick Pharmacy.
Pictures with Santa: Stop in for a picture with Santa from 4:30-6:30 at 126 N Walnut Street (former Remax location) for $5.00. Pictures can be picked up one week later at Wishes. And, check out the Coloring Contest Winners while visiting Santa!
Wood Carving Sponsored by Teen Challenge: Teen Challenge will present a live wood carving in the Skiff Medical Clinic parking lot. And enjoy fresh roasted nuts from the Teen Challenge Roasted Nut Cart!!
Children’s Activities: Colfax Library and Colfax Community Pre-School will host crafts at the Colfax Library. Children can write a letter to Santa at First State Bank and drop their letter in the mailbox at the bank. Santa will be responding to their letters within a couple of weeks.
Carriage Rides: And, what Christmas would be complete without a free horse drawn carriage ride around downtown Colfax. Pick up and drop off will be located in front of the Senior Citizen building and Hair Gallery.
Soup Supper Sponsored by Dollars for Scholars: Chili; Chicken Noodle; Cheese and Bean soup located at the Senior Citizen building from 4:00-7:00. Stop in and grab a bowl of soup and crackers for $4. And pick up dessert at our Holiday Cookie Walk sponsored by the Band Boosters.
Book Signing with Larry Hurto: Visit the Historical Society booth at the First State Bank of Colfax and have author Larry Hurto personally sign a copy of "Colfax, A Pictoral History.
Open Houses: Many businesses will host open houses where you can enjoy cookies, hot chocolate, cider and other yummy treats. In addition to the businesses mentioned above, be sure to visit the following businesses for their evening specials: Wishes–wine & food tasting and Urbandale artist, Israel Lopez; Georgioz-beer & wine special; Professional Hair Designers-20% off product and tanning specials; Thirsty Turtle-bean bag games & specials; Poppy’s-dinner special; and Shugars-annual food tasting. Don’t forget to visit Colfax Food Pantry and drop off a food donation for the holidays; and stop to check out crafts the Girl Scouts are selling.
Caroling: Catholic Church, Methodist Church, Baptist Church and Colfax-Mingo High School Choir will be caroling from 4:30–7:00 as they stroll through the downtown businesses.
