Music in the Park on Saturday, August 4th! Slipstream and Blake's Race!
You are invited to come to Colfax for free Music in the Park on Saturday, August 4 to watch Slip Stream perform at Anspach Stage in Women’s Club Park located on 13 East Division Street.
Slipstream is a new seven member band area playing a mix of soft rock from the '70s through today representing groups including Boston, The Knack, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benetar, The Eagles, Adele, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Heart, Journey, Donnie Iris, Etta James, KT Tunstall, Led Zepplin, Van Morrison, Cheap Trick, Train, Cobie Calliat, Katrina and the Waves and Chris Isaak. Slipstream, a group of talented, seasoned, fun-loving musicians from Newton and Des Moines who draw upon their experience with popular Central Iowa bands such as Fat Bob, Flatland Frank and the Flat Cats, The Sons of Gladys Kravitz, The Eight Track Band, Likely Supsects, the Kruze Band and Landsharks, as well as several Newton Community Theatre productions. Also on Saturday, August 4th there will be a fundraiser in memory of Blake Wood, Blake’s Race, starting at 6PM with a 5k trail run, a 1k fun run/walk. Blake’s Race will end at Women’s Club Park so runners can enjoy the performance after their run. Proceeds from Blake’s Race will go the Above and Beyond Cancer Survivors program. Entry forms can be found on Colfax Main Street website or at the First State Bank of Colfax.
This is the 7th year that Colfax has hosted free performances at Anspach Stage in Women’s Club Park and it is truly a slice of American that you want to be sure to attend. The outdoor amphitheater and recently restored craftsman stage make for a wonderful venue. Younger children will be entertained with the playground equipment and complimentary sidewalk chalk and bubbles. Be sure to bring your blankets, lawn chairs and bug spray – but leave your coolers at home. Colfax Main Street, the host of the event, will also have refreshments (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) available to purchase.
